Hole Guide

1
Hole 1 - Par 4
At 312m, this par 4 doesn't have to be a problem. With an iron, keep your tee-shot aimed to the centre of the fairway. Anything far from straight may end up in one o the lateral lakes. Your approach shot may be just as long as your tee, just don't go short here; the front of the green slopes severely back down the hill.
2
Hole 2 - Par 4
Play shorter than it seems, as the approach needs precission rather then strength. Keep your drive left of the bunker. Only a high approach shot bites on the sloping green.
3
Hole 3 - Par 4
This hole is straight as a hallway and wide open. Also, the green is huge and does not hide any surprises. Once again, a colorful cast of ball vendors along the fence offer plenty of excuses.
4
Hole 4 - Par 3
The green is large, but the shot has to be straight to avoid the trouble on the left. Smile, the Monchique Mountain is greeting.
5
Hole 5 - Par 5
This straight hole claims its fair share of victims with out-of-bounds down the left and water down the right! One small bunker is in front of the green challenging long hitters attempting to reach the green in two. the small green doesn't hold any surprise breaks, what you see is what you get.
6
Hole 6 - Par 3
This long hole is a no brainer with a big landingpad and nt a lot to get into trouble. Whatch for wind though, as sheltered  hole often hides the upper breeze.
7
Hole 7 - Par 5
This second par 5 is long but fair. A straight shot to the centre sets you up for your second shot where a gentle dogleg comes into play. Try to get your second shot right of the evergreen tree after the gentle uphill corner. The uphill approach shot plays longer than it looks.
8
Hole 8 - Par 4
Eight has a tight tee shot and a long approach. Stands of trees guard both sides. Aim your driver to the right of the fairway. You'll also need a lot of club for the approach. Don't blow your round on this third-most-difficult hole of the course.
9
Hole 9 - Par 3
This very uphill par 3 has a huge landing area. But don't let your exuberance gets the best of you. Miscalculate your club and you will end up short in the bunker guarding the green.
10
Hole 10 - Par 4
This short par 4 has an easy drive, but a difficult approach. Water and a bunker near the green require a thought-out approach. Keep your drive in the middle and you'll keep out of trouble. Stay too far right, and go into the lateral water hazard.
11
Hole 11 - Par 4
This short dogleg left is a great holr to use your irons. Align with the left half of the dogleg's bunker for the least risk and greatest reward. Long hitters need to keep the driver in their bag! A medium bunker guards the left side of the narrow green. Two-foot putts from above the hole can quickly become a three putt!
12
Hole 12 - Par 3
This deceptive elevated hole is guarded by the slope of the hill, and a ball gobbling vegetation running along the left side. Choose your straightest hitting club for this hole as it's easier to make Par from the front than from the back of the green. The two tier green is narrow; run it up whenever possible.
13
Hole 13 - Par 5
This dogleg left is the fairest, most scenic and strategic hole on the course. Once around the lake, it's a straight trip. Don't come up short on your approach shot or you'll land in the long narrow lakeside bunker protecting the large green. Take it easy on putts from the back of the green, the down hill putt is pretty fast here!
14
Hole 14 - Par 3
Line your tee shot right down in front of the green. The Out-of-Bounds stakes down the left side are for real. Avoid over hitting on this hole, trouble lies behind the green! A small bunker on the right protects the large green that deceptively slopes front left to right back.
15
Hole 15 - Par 4
An iron off the tee will get you into position for a dowhill approach shot. the green is guarded by a bunker and elevated, requiring an accurate approach shot.
16
Hole 16 - Par 3
Don't take this Par 3 for granted. It's long and guarded by a left side bunker winding up to a dificult green. Turf in front of the green is usually soft, eliminating the option to run the ball up. The green's centre requires straight putts.
17
Hole 17 - Par 5
This wide fairway invites you to hit a strong tee shot. The second shot may flirt with a lateral water hazard some 50 yards short of the green on the right side. The approach shot plays 1 to 2 clubs less than it appears. If you're on the down slope , play it off the back of your stance and let it fly but beware! The green is slightly elevated and narrow.
18
Hole 18 - Par 4
You get a break with this dogleg if played correctly. The fairway slopes straight up 200 yards. 230 yards will get you over the bunker into position for a short iron green hit. The though to hold green is guarded by deep bunkers on both flanks. When the pin is in the front, use a run-up shot. For middle to back side pin placements use a full shot.
